Reminds me of a time many years ago when I asked an evangelical if he thought the Jewish victims of the Holocaust were in Heaven. I did not get a response.

An evangelical spokesperson for a religious group known as Truth In Action has claimed that the tragedy in Colorado happened because America has lost its fear of hell.
In an article published on OneNewsNow, evangelical Jerry Newcombe wrote:
I can't help but feel that to some extent, we're reaping what we've been sowing as a society. We said to God, "Get out of the public arena." Lawsuit after lawsuit, often by misguided "civil libertarians," have chased away any fear of God in the land -- at least in the hearts of millions.

Perhaps more disturbing were Newcombes comments when on a segment on the American Family Association radio dedicated to understanding the shooting tragedy in Colorado. In taking about the deaths, Newcombe separated the afterlife fate of those who died as Christians and those who did not:
If a Christian dies early, if a Christian dies young, it seems tragic, but really it is not tragic because they are going to a wonderful place.. on the other hand, if a person doesnt know Jesus Christ.. if they knowingly rejected Jesus Christ, then, basically, they are going to a terrible place.

(14,400 posts)I have no problem with that. Usually my response to one of these guys is that I'd rather not associate with him in life and being stuck with him and his ilk in death would likely be a lot more like hell for me than he'd ever be willing to admit.

(14,400 posts)able to figure out, these xtian grifters will do anything to drum up business and increase the cash inflow. A typical dirtbag like this one isn't anywhere near above using this kind of a tragedy to do that.

(14 posts)I am an atheist, but I would say that if there is a heaven, there probably aren't many xtians in it since having to spend any amount of time with these intolerant people would be a hell. Believe me I have had to at work and even five minutes was unbearable. I constantly felt like vomiting even just having to look at these disgusting people.

(9,154 posts)is anything like the hell they've created for non-Christians here on earth, then why would any of those non-Christian folks ever wish to go to that heaven? Sounds like an authoritarian, "devilish" place.
In My dreams and version of heaven, well, anyone can do anything they wish. It is not anarchy, because by the time we get there, we have learned to create harmony voluntarily. It is a Liberal heaven, where healing is offered for the ill, and souls of people who've been violently killed, those who were still expecting to get to see their loved ones here on earth at least one more time, at least to say good bye and I love you. Even Christians get to go there! if they want.
If the evangelical leaders version of heaven is a place they only get to go to, well, they can imagine that as "heaven", and create that for themselves. It simply doesn't mean we all want to go "there" with them.
Two different "heavens": A place of tolerance where we are allowed to do anything (good [god]), or a place where we are prohibited from doing many (good [god]) things. Each one of us get to choose!
