The Mob, led by Kristen Gillibrand, by attacking Al Franken, without an Ethics Committee hearing, has put US closer to this terrible possibility. I so hope Franken reconsiders, but I doubt he will.

He has a six year term, and could have made it clear he wasnt resigning, it was his choice to not stick it out and get his due process

And I don't know about you, but I would have been resolute in that situation, unless, of course, I knew my reputation would not be able to survive the scrutiny of an investigation.
