A foreshadowing of things to come for Trump

I have long held that the Russia investigation closely follows the Watergate path. Some of the similarities are that the DNC was broken into to get embarrassing information on Democrats. The Russian hack was for the same purposes. The difference, the Russians were successful. We have emails in contemporary times, Nixon had tapes in the 60's and 70's. Nixon faced a Democratic legislature, but carried 49 states in a 20 point popular vote win. Trump eked out a win and lost the popular vote, but has a Republican Congress, for now.

But, the investigation itself really is eerily familiar to Watergate. As a result, here is the breaking news in June of 1974, two months ahead of Nixon's resignation, and 17 months into his second term. This is what I expect to happen to Trump within the next 6 months.

JURY NAMED NIXON A CO‐CONSPIRATOR BUT DIDN'T INDICT

<snip>WASHINGTON, June 6—President Nixon was named last February by a Watergate grand jury as an unindicted co‐conspirator in the alleged attempt to cover up the Watergate burglary, his lawyer, James D. St, Clair, confirmed today.

The disclosure, which had been closely guarded in secret court hearings on the case, completes the circle of conspiracy alleged in the indictment handed up March 1 by the grand jury and explains what was contained in the mysterious briefcase handed to Federal Judge John J. Sirica at that time.

It is expected to have a significant impact on the upcoming trials, tying in the President's remarks and meetings with aides in the Watergate matter as possible evidence in the case, rather than excluding them as merely comments of an outsider whose aides were conspiring.<snip>

He and his cohorts will start screaming louder that it's a conspiracy. The fake news will be relentless.

Even he was light years ahead of Trump and that’s saying something.

It reminds me of something I read many years ago. Nixon was a very powerful president and had worked his way up thru politics. The entire time he was president there was some eye sore government building he had to look at out his office window. He tried his best to get it torn down but never could get it done. Of course he didn’t have a compliment Congress kissing his ass constantly.

Instead, I think they'll keep screaming that the FBI is biased, they'll try to investigate Mueller, Hillary, and won't acknowledge reality.

McCain is one who might have had the integrity to act on solid evidence, so it's unfortunate that he might not be around. Hopefully, Mueller's evidence is damning enough and he is able to keep building a case, investigating the financials, and stay in the game until after the midterms.

Will circle the wagons and claim it is all Partisan, at least that is the under current for what we see happening today with the faux outrage at the FBI and Mueller team members etc. It is also why I fully support making the 2018 campaigns a referendum on Trump impeachment, I don't want Democratic reps getting all wishy washy after we hand them a victory of retaking the house and maybe the Senate, there is certainly enough support from some anti-Trump Republicans to plead that it would be in their best interest to remove the traitorous POS so their party can regain some form of credibility.

They have their tax scam for their wealthy donors. They don't need Trump anymore.

He becomes an unindicted, coconspirator and you think they'll stand by him?

Let's put it this way, if Democrats pick up 40 or 50 seats in the House, as I expect. If Donnie Jr. and Jerod get indicted, as I expect, you think the Repukes will stand by this asshole when the alternative is Mike Pence?

No way.
