"Churchill was an animal lover.[1] He had pet cats and dogs such as his bulldog Dodo, poodle Rufus, wartime cat Nelson and marmalade cat, Jock.[2][3] He also kept a large variety of creatures on his estate, Chartwell, including butterflies, fish, cows, pigs and swans.[4]"

There is still a marmalade cat called Jock living at Chartwell, to this day. The Churchill family made this request when they handed over the property to the National Trust in 1966.

They are currently on Jock VI.

The Old Man would be very happy about that.

Churchill was an unapologetic imperialist who opposed independence for India. He was no egalitarian. He also made a mess of the Dardanelles campaign in the First World War.

And yet, he was a great wartime leader. He also had perhaps the sharpest wit in history (though Mark Twain comes close) and had an astounding (if slanted) grasp of history.

Trump is a very simple man, when it comes down to it. And, by himself, I don’t find him at all interesting.

He was introduced in one place by a young Winston Churchill, who admired Twain's writing.

One of those odd, interesting historical connections.
