I'm sick and tired of hearing how we should ignore assholism if it's in the family. They are all in someone's family- so that makes no sense.

I really tore them up, and I felt badly for a few moments afterwards.

The stuff they sent:

1) Michelle Obama should go back to her tribe in Africa

2) White people had to pick cotton too

I mean, how can any reasonable person even begin to abide shit like this?

several years ago. Just finally had it with her BS right wing stuff she'd send around. I used to suggest she verify some
of the "alternative" facts before she'd send this BS around and I finally gave up.

One of her "friends" called me out on hitting reply all! LOL! I couldn't believe it. Ripped her a new one
since I'd known my sister-in-law for about 40 years at that point. If my SIL wanted to send around BS,
then I figured I had a right to send around correction of the BS and lies she was spreading.

That was the end for me. My SIL has been blocked for years now on my e-mail. Both she and my brother are Trumpsters.
If I never hear from either of them again, I won't miss it.

I don't expect to hear from most of my family. I apparently caused quite a ripple. I'm ok with it.

what I call a negative attention getter.

Kinda makes me sad that he needs to do that because it doesn't work, just makes people back off further.

What I can't understand is this...

My family passes this stuff around like it is candy. And that is pretty much all they pass around. Hate filled stuff. Negative stuff.

I think what hurts is that I really never knew they were like this. Not that I have spent a whole lot of time with them, but still, I guess I stupidly assumed that they shared at least some of my beliefs. I will never make that assumption again.

he's really a nice person but he does all that negative attention getting stuff, much like what you describe, for attention because he lacks the skills to have a decent conversation.

I look at him as a wounded soul. I don't want to do any further damage so I mostly just ignore what he is saying by trying to change the conversation. On FB or in emails I ignore what I don't like and make another conversation when I can.

It's irritating but he's family.

And anyone who thinks mass-emailing anything at all needs to be prepared for a Reply All.

I used to get such things and every time I'd do a Reply All, and I was very quickly removed from the lists. Sweet.
