Trump Boasts He Signed More Laws Than Any President Since Truman. He Actually Signed the Fewest.

You know if Donald Trump is pushing some sort of record or achievement or a Time cover, you should probably run the numbers again, you know, just to double-check. On Wednesday, while totally not golfing at Mar-a-Lago in Florida, Trump reflected on his first year in office in a way only Trump could. That is, he basically made it up. Ruminating on what he considered his achievements, Trump explained at an event with firefighters in West Palm Beach that he had set a record for the most legislation passed in a year. At least thats what it appears he was trying to say:
We got a lot of legislation passed I believeand you would have to ask those folks who will know the real answerwe have more legislation passed, including the record was Harry Truman, a long time ago. And we broke that record, so we got a lot done.
That is, predictably, not the case. In fact, Trumps version of history is the exact opposite of reality. Trump has signed fewer bills into law than any other president in his first year in office since Dwight Eisenhower in 1953, according to GovTrack.

(19,204 posts)Presidential signing statements ( remember, he railed against Obama for signing "so many" ) as "legislation". Honestly, I don't think he knows the difference. Maybe someone told him that they count as "legislation" (some aide, maybe, trying to butter up the orange Big Mac Inhaler-in-Chief. Most people who are a single step above plant life, would refrain from flapping their gaping maw as much as Trump, but Trump (always thinking he's the smartest person in any room ) wants to demonstrate - at least to his cult worshipers - that he's a brilliant statesman and negotiator. As evidence of their abject stupidity, they believe and praise him at every instance. Truly, the blind leading the blind.
Trump actually believes that he's the greatest "president" in the history of the United States. That's how far gone his grasp of reality has become. He's truly a danger to the American people, our country, and the people of the world, not to mention himself and his family (but who cares about that?).
