I want to rent out a room with a balcony over Time's Square on New Year's Eve and throw out mittens and scarves to the people below. Anything to keep the revelry going.

The people who do well work over the square, so, they don't have to take out a mortgage to watch with warm, indoor plumbing.

no bathrooms. It's nuts.

I've heard stories about public urination right into the street, but I haven't been there to see it personally.

I'm gonna assume there are no Depends on the shelves in that neighborhood.....

Or do they let them loose at some point? Looks like people are free to walk down the sidewalks and the cross streets... so do they have to leave at some point? The logistics of this is... confusing... but compelling at the same time.

re-admittance if you leave. Having been to NYC marches and protests, I can also tell you that the rules change without warning: The police are given sudden, new directions through their radios, and what you thought was happening stops or changes.

So, it's all just wild and out of control. No way would I ever attempt it.

No closer, and not much moving around once it’s filling up. Been on the square a couple times, no way would I do it without a cozy office to return to anytime I wanted.

wanted to do. I hate the cold, I hate crowds and I hate not having my conveniences (liquids - I am always very thirsty - and bathroom facilities). New Year's Eve isn't really my favorite holiday anyway.

I'm just going to order some Chinese food and watch movies tonight. I'm sick, so I might not even make it to midnight.
