Happy Hogmanay...Day....

My dtrs new hubby is from Scotland and this morning his parents wished him happy this day. We are in Seattle..not much of a Scottish influence up here ( think sushi and smoked salmon)...but apparently its got to do with Vikings and torches. I found some nice images but little in the way of explanation. So for our Scottish DU'ers....Happy Hogmanay!

I'll be at a Hogmanay Party here in Iowa. We'll sing Auld Lang Syne, pull crackers, consume haggis, drink Scotch, and invite a tall, dark, and handsome man (bringing coal, whisky, and fruit cake) to cross the threshold at midnight. There will be lots of candles - a lovely night.
