San Clemente and run into him.

People said he wan’t an unpleasant man to chat with.

He gave us title IX and the EPA

Could you see Trump getting up in the middle of the night and walk to the Lincoln Memorial to talk to his protestors?

Too bad he was such a Dick pun intended

Dick was a dick, but he was smart. The "Fucking Moron" got this title from Tillerson since he IS stupid and now nuttier than a fruitcake...dangerous.
I just saw that someone also posted this. Good, it verifies that my memory isn't completely shot to hell.

I couldn't even imagine it being worse. I thought "It Can't Happen Here," "A Face in the Crowd" and "The Manchurian Candidate" were excellent fiction but could never be real.

And to make it worse, this FUCKING ORANGE SHITGIBBON has made me think those other ones weren't so bad.

among other things. He was better-behaved in public than Trump, but don't let the weapons-grade awfulness of Trump make you think Nixon really wasn't so bad. He was.

The fact that he taped almost everything still amazes, since the audio reveals Nixon's fixations with the Kennedys, minorities, and in particular, Jews. He went on and on about Jews, just spewing hate and "thinking" in stereotypes.

He thought they all had it in for him. Turns out, he was right, although it was his own lawlessness, secrecy, and an illness that served to make him more hateful and out-of-touch, that lit the spark which would immolate his own presidency.

#1) He was a helluva lot smarter than Kremlin Don, and

#2) He was embedded in a much more liberal political framework than the Howler Monkey is. Before 40+ years of conservative propaganda shoving the window of acceptable discourse rightward.

Today's conservatives consider everything before Reagan to be "socialist".

In Nixon's day, only ranting cranks held that position, not major political parties.

He actually did something quite touching years later. When the retired Senator George Aiken was in the hospital and dying, he visited him at a hospital in Vermont. Can you imagine the Orange Fuhrer doing that?

But under stress, the paranoia would kick in. The fact that he taped so much of it is still amazing, given that it's what undid his presidency.

Very weird dude, with a chip on his shoulder and completely self-destructive.

And yet, Nixon, even with his tonnage of faults and craziness, nevertheless lived in the same reality as the rest of us. Trump lies constantly (EVERYTHING out of his mouth ranges from bullshit to flat-out lies), to the extent that no one can be sure if he actually believes the insanity he spews, or if he does it deliberately just to be the world's greatest asshole. Either way, the welcome-mat has long since been pulled in (it was never really rolled out for him).
