What Are They???
All the Republicans who are protecting Trump (which is virtually all of them), radically shifting the nation's wealth to themselves and the 1%, undermining the US Constitution, and enabling the poisoning of our rivers, seas and minds.... these people AREN'T CONSERVING ANYTHING. They have bypassed all the loving, humanitarian principles of the Bible they claim to hold so dear. They aren't conservatives by any reasonable definition of that word.
So technically speaking, WHAT ARE THEY?

DM, I understand your quest and it's a difficult one. For around 60-years of my recollection, repugs have abused the English language for their ends. They have totally adulterated the meaning of words such as conservative, freedom and liberty, and they have taken many other useful words hostage.
No good answer from here right off the bat, but perhaps these descriptors will stir our thinking:
1. Greedy.
2. Elitist.
3. Autocratic.
4. Authoritarian.
5. Plutocratic.
6. Oligarchic.
7. Psychopathic.
8. Sociopathic.
9. Selfish.
10. Self-centered.
11. Hypocritical.
12. Racist.
13. Misogynistic.
14. Power mad/power hungry.
15. Fear driven.
16. LIAR.
17. Deceitful.
18. Hateful.
Combine all that into one word and you have "Republican", LOL.
