You know who loves this site more than anyone? People stuck in Red Hell. Like a lifeline.
But I love it too.
It is utterly unique. It is beautiful. I have grown from it, and its trials have been my trials.
Never been anything like this. Center of the universe. I swear it.
I send you all love.

(16,786 posts)Finding a place where I can vent, share ideas, and grow stronger in my activism as I grow older(65), is rare indeed. I feel at home here.

(205,405 posts)I've learned so much here - and still do - each and every day. DUers are the most informed - and smartest - on the internets!

(729 posts)after the horrible, bad thing in 2004. I've stopped in just about every day. Read and learned so much. I'm quiet, but I'm here. I love this place.

(19,201 posts)I was wandering around the internet "tubes" lost, in a daze. I found a link for DU on another liberal site, and the rest is history. Well, not all of it was history. I purged myself for a few years after the Clinton/Obama Wars (there were many casualties!) lost over 30,000 posts in the process, and returned after the latest Republican stolen election. Like any relationship, DU and I have had "our moments", but I always come back when shit gets too weird to handle on my own. DU is like an old friend who offers unconditional support in times of crisis.
HUZZAH FOR DU! A tip of the hat for all who keep this place going. You do such a wonderful job, and it's greatly appreciated.

(51,594 posts)and knowledgeable about politics in general. Also, having people share what is going on in all 50 states and other countries is fantastic. I feel free to ask questions about political science, elections, different campaigns, historic and political events that I have forgotten or never experienced, etc and am usually given respect and not ridiculed. I also am glad that there are a lot of fact checkers out there and they keep everyone legit. I still can't spot a troll and am alerted about them too. I am glad that DUers don't usually mind when my tablet inserts misspelled words on its own or that I missed while typing on my touchscreen. It drives me crazy though!

(2,883 posts)Only as a reader (lurker), after whats his name was selected in 2000, I now post in the lounge for fun and the computer help and support forum/ group has saved my ass and computer on numerous occasions. It truly has something for everyone, this is my daily go to and has been for many years. Get up, make coffee, check DU, and check email in that order. I recommend DU to all my good, trusted friends.

(7,541 posts)I was priveleged to listen to KPFT on the Pacifica Network. They fire-bombed that place like three times when I was in high school. Democracy Now has been like a light for me since those days.
