Kurt Eichenwald just destroyed Trump's boast about his education

Five tweets, all on this page:

Trump just said, "“I went to the best colleges, or college." Why the slip? 1 or 2? Answer: 2. He wanted UPenn, but Dad's influence couldn't get him in. Went to Fordham. Eventually, Penn gave Don a "rich boy" admission. Never made dean's list, claims he graduated 1st in his class.

...Trump always refuses to mention Fordham, because it is evidence that he wasn't good enough. He refuses to call U Penn by that name, but instead calls it Wharton, the undergraduate business school. BUT no one says "I went to Wharton" when they are talking about undergrad.....

...they might say, I went to Wharton undergrad, but never "I went to Wharton." Why? Because Wharton has the most highly respected graduate business program in the country. People who "went to Wharton" are MBAs. Trump has been tricking people -- including me years ago -- into....

...believing he has a Wharton MBA (Which WOULD be a major accomplishment) by his crafty word choice. Trump has no MBA. He can't read a balance sheet. He's just a guy who inherited lots of $ long ago and is so bad at business that no American banks will deal with him anymore.

...now, Fordham is a great school. Trump could say "I went to Fordham, then transferred to UPenn for the business program." But then it would be, wait, did you get a Wharton MBA or not? Telling the truth about undergraduate destroys the deception on graduate degree.

Editing to add that other sources say that what Eichenwald calls Trump's "rich boy" admission to Wharton as an undergrad was actually because his "older brother, Freddy Trump, knew an admissions counselor at Wharton."

http://www.pennlive.com/news/2017/02/what_is_trumps_real_record_at.html

So this was different from the "rich boy" admission Jared Kushner got to Harvard, which he wasn't at all qualified for, but which his father gave millions of dollars to.

However, most of his supporters don't know the difference and they are uneducated themselves so they don't really care. They also don't care that he lies. He's such a fucking loser. If he only saw himself how most of us see him, he would not be able to cope with it.

Trump was too stupid to get into the graduate school program at Wharton. In addition, trump did not graduate with honors. http://fortune.com/2015/08/14/donald-trump-wharton/

His school posted his graduate program that shows that he did not graduate with honor shttp://www.pennlive.com/news/2017/02/what_is_trumps_real_record_at.html

dimwits like 45 and Dubya are alumni from ivies... which means the education at these expensive snotty institutions also produce subpar individuals whose academics is dumbed down (so they can at least pass OR they're probably given credit for classes not taken) due to their parents' influence and money. Their diplomas are bought.

Affirmative Action for the rich. AKA "Legacy admissions".

Helping a disadvantaged but talented youth? Oooooooohhhhh nooooooo, we can't have that.

Using family $$$$$ and connections to get a dolt into Harvard or Penn? A-OK.

And hard right radical free market economics abound at some places too, like U Chicago, U Houston (i think), and perhaps even Penn (Jeremy Siegel) and Columbia. I suppose one can rationalize that wealthy elites care more about growth than anything else. These points of view brought us industrial revolution, coal and oil, the slave trade, railroad barons on two continents, perhaps even automobiles. The kind of guys that live in castles.

I think I read that they all attended Wharton too but don't know if it was grad school or not. My sister attended Penn and got her master's there as well. I told her that they must have paid their way into the school and she said that may be but once you are in you still have to do all the work to earn your degrees. His kids must not be as stupid as he is or can you pay someone to write your thesis and take exams for you too?

My roommate paid me to draw a "full length self portrait" for $10 (1983). I did it and tried to make it look average but his teacher could see that this was too good for him to draw and he knew it wasn't legit.
Writing a thesis seems a lot more complex and easy to verify, especially for an Ivy League school.

No one guessed anything is wrong.

I figure if they are doing it for athletes, many schools are doing it for rich kids. Actually of all the public HS teachers I know inflated grades - because their schools are in danger of closing. One also just refused to “teach for the test”, so there’s that.

Eric didn't even go to Wharton. He went to Georgetown.

The only Trump kid who is a postgrad is Tiffany, who was apparently a good student and is going to law school. And she was raised by her mother far away from the shitgibbon.

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2017/10/12/1705902/-Former-Wharton-Professor-Donald-Trump-Is-the-Dumbest-Goddam-Student-I-Ever-Had

Professor Kelley told me 100 times over three decades that “Donald Trump was the dumbest goddam student I ever had.” I remember his emphasis and inflection — it went like this — “Donald Trump was the dumbest goddam student I ever had.” Dr. Kelley told me this after Trump had become a celebrity but long before he was considered a political figure. Dr. Kelley often referred to Trump’s arrogance when he told of this — that Trump came to Wharton thinking he already knew everything.
