Anyway ive Been half listening to msnbc this afternoon , while I clean house, and have heard a few republicans, McConnell? And trump come out from Camp David to say, they really, really want bipartisan relationships with the Democrats. REALLY? Lets look at this; Were they bipartisan last year with the tax bill, the committees on Russian interference, trying to repeal ACA? Did we get to speak even? How about Gorsech? How about how they tried to be bipartisany during the Obama Administration?
One thing they want is an 18 billion wall in the budget (in return for DACA and CHP?, what we want). They cant pass the budget without us and want to stick a bunch more of their crap in there. If dems make nice or cave to these MF who have already gotten enough goodies to break the bank and load our children and grandchildren with forever debt, I will throw my hands in the air and then puke. Make a stand Democrats! At this point I dont care if the government gets shut down. We are always paying their blackmail.
Should Democrats work with republicans?

(6,008 posts)We need to be fighting them tooth and nail until they get knocked down to a minority rump party for a generation or so. Then we can talk about bipartisanship again.

(17,006 posts)chicken and win. The repubs count on us to be nice and they use that to their advantage. We have got to get better at getting out ahead of the story and crafting the message instead of always playing defense.

(9,287 posts)And we should demand this because they passed it without us. That would be a show of bipartisanship. Demand all the deductions come back on.
We want income fairness for the middle and working classes and reinstate the ACA provision struck down. And when they dont agree beat them over the head with it everyday.

(14,574 posts)If we are actually able to resurrect our Republic from the current polar insanity, then yes, this is the type of government our founders set up. Checks and balances with plenty of debate and compromise.
God, we need that back!

(6,008 posts)The republicans have a majority in both houses of congress and the presidents pen. They can do anything they want to. They only want democratic votes so that the democrats will be complicit in the terrible outcomes of their disastrous ideas as well, and they aren't the only ones on the hook for the inevitable consequences of conservative ideology run amok.

(24,226 posts)The only thing Democrats can get is crumbs from this GOP while they feed the super rich our whole Treasury so NO, they should not work with or do anything to help GOP.
Even the GOP infrastructure plan is just privatization and corporate tax breaks.
So fuck them, they get no budget.
There's nothing to win from these Republicans so in order for things to get better, they first must get much worse, like the last time the GOP was in total control of our country that led to the crash of 2008.
Only then does the nation realize we Democrats are better at running America than Republicans.
