by Jed Lewison
So here's the latest absurdity from Romneyland: Mitt Romney spent the early part of the day pushing his lame "you didn't build that" attack against President Obama ... while surrounded by business owners who depend on government contracts to make a living. Even better, he held the event, which was billed as an ode to rugged individualism, while standing in front of a banner blaring the collectivist "We did built it!" slogan. ("We," not "I"?)
As you might expect, response on Twitter was fast and furious:

Today's event comes after Romney spent Friday afternoon pushing the attack by touring a business that got started with a government loan. And that came a day after Romney said he actually agreed with President Obama about government playing an essential role in helping businesses thrive. And let's not forget Romney's 2002 message to Olympians: "You didn't get here solely on your own."

This is red meat for people with no logic skills. People who get their views from Faux and Beck and Limbaugh.
He is not trying to woo Democrats, he is trying to woo the Newtie-bots and other disaffected righties.
He knows he is lying, and revels in it.
This is a guy who tripped his daughter-in-law to win an inconsequential - except to his ego - foot race.
Soooo - outrage means nothing, he has to be attacked on his taxes and his lies and whatever else in order to get disaffected Lefties out to the polls.
And then, of course, we need oversight of vote counting, because the repubs will literally do anything to win, no matter how nasty, because they believe their cause is pure and that the end justifies the means. They are cynical beyond imagination.
I fully expect Mitt to stand there and lie, with a grin, during the debates.

They gave it "Three Pinocchios."

(36,437 posts)He's got Romney out making the case that most business owners get some form of governmental assistance along the way. Every time Romney tries on a "I built it myself!" business, it turns out to have been subsidized, supported, contracted, or otherwise propped up by a government entity!
Question 1: Will Romney ever reveal his tax returns?
Question 2: Will Romney ever find a non-government-supported business?
