Sessions Voids Cole Memo, the Sky Isnt Falling

This appears to be the heart of this article's argument:
Two points on this.
They don't need to go after "all". It would not be difficult, even with limited resources, to target the largest grow/dispensary operations and place forfeiture and seizure on all assets, property, cash, and also owners' personal assets, personalbank accounts, and personal property as products of "ill gotten gains". That doesn't take an army. Just 3 or 4 of these unannounced raids per state will shock the cannabis industry to the core.
As far as the political fallout goes it's more than obvious this administration doesn't care about negative politics when you consider its actions these last 300 or so days, including the very unpopular tax legislation that barely passed along party lines. And while we aren't looking Trump and the Republican Senate are stacking the federal courts with anti-cannabis judges.
Nothing may come of reversing the Cole Memorandum put forth to protect the states during the Obama administration and I hope that is true.
However, I don't believe this is a time to "take a deep breath" and kick back.

(23,337 posts)about what Sessions is up to on this. I just discovered CBD products for myself and my old dog because it is now available here in Montana. It is incredible stuff. Game changers to be sure. I don't want to lose, or anybody else for that matter, access to cannabis.

(13,158 posts)so at worst this will drive the non-medical retail business back underground. I think the political fallout from going after regulated medical marijuana would be too much for even the idiots in the republican party to accept.
It is sad. It is also an enormous political opportunity for the Democratic Party. Will leaders have the courage to own this issue?

(28,270 posts)should be a top priority of the democratic party. A majority of Americans want it and it needs to be federal law so red states can't keep it illegal.
It's a winning proposition. Whether the party has the guts or the will to do it remains to be seen.

(58,706 posts)It may not be a big issue in all local races, but nationwide, this should be a winner for Dems.
