Notice its President is the first one to celebrate.
Name any other sports organization that believes it promotes world peace. That may or may not have been true for the Ancient Olympics but the Olympic Movement has been politicized from day one in terms of race, gender, ideology and hegemony.

Lake Olympics come to mind. Compound that with national agendas and the Olympics have seriously departed from their original intent: to provide a neutral setting for everyone to meet with everybody else and find common ground.
