Have you seen him on Chris Hayes' show on MSNBC? He's absent minded and almost lighthearted. If the FBI pinched him for espionage back in early 2016 or late 2015 and he started to deal with info from team trump, it explains a lot.

He made several trips that apparently had no known sponsor within team trump (if it wasn't Sessions).

Whomever went to the FBI was concerned about what was happening within the campaign. Papadopoulos seemed to be enjoying the ride, enough to brag about what was going on and his role to anyone who would listen. I'm guessing it's someone who at least has some knowledge of government and how things work, and realized that the contacts between the campaign and Russia were worrisome. Preibus?
