No offense to Oprah intended. She's NOT a politician. She has no experience in public service. Her heart seems always to be in the right place, but that's a far cry from being an executive in the public trust who has experience and knowledge of the workings of government. As a surrogate, Oprah would be superb. But she needs to do what she's good at.

...as long as he's out of office as soon as possible.

If we had to put every registered voter who was born in this country, 35 years old or more, except Trump, into a drum and pull out the name at random, and swear him or her in immediately as President, I'd go along with it.

we can put up a less than perfect candidate who is very popular, and win.

In this case, I don't care what it takes, we have to win.

Which of course they did with Obama just five short years ago. Funny, people have already forgotten that and are grasping at a Dem version of celeb worship as the only path to winning. This idea that we have to go with "anybody" no matter what is giving up on democracy and the path to Idiocracy. And the description of a "less than perfect candidate" I guess is a description of Oprah, who is far less than perfect.

"Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public" Quote attributed to H.L. Mencken

Actual Mencken quote;

“No one in this world, so far as I know — and I have searched the records for years, and employed agents to help me — has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby.”

In this day and age, popular may be more important than qualified.

This day and age? Obama won five years ago! And Dems are poised to win big in 2018. We don't need someone who is not qualified and has shown questionable judgment in many ways. Just because some are in love with her, doesn't mean she is an automatic winner. Hillary lost for a lot of reasons that need to be addressed, not turn to desperation as if 2016 shows all is lost without some celebrity savior being looked to as some did with trump.

If we want to question voter's intelligence, then supporting a Dem candidate based on celeb worship is as dumb as any trump voter voting for a tv star. It's not just wrong, it is unnecessary because we can win without doing it and it takes our country down a path we need to reverse, not continue on.

If Trump is actually the candidate in 2020, you can bet he'll beat his approval rating. And Oprah is a Black woman in a white supremacist, patriarchal society. So, 48-38 is a little disappointing, perhaps, but I don't find it surprising.

Oprah is also a wealthy celebrity, which is going to bother a lot of anti-Trump folks. Oprah has no business running for POTUS, of course. But neither did Trump.

My bet is Kamala Harris will be our candidate, and I'm hoping she can top 50%.

she did, this early chatter is intended to bloody her up well before she'd make the decision. It's clear someone feels threatened by her, and the media loves a celebrity fight to fill up the many hours of the 24/7 media beast.
