Front page of the NewYorkTimes: a porn star who calls herself "Stormy Daniels" was offered $130k to keep quiet about some romp she had with agent orange, and went public with it when the sh*thole, as usual, failed to pay. I say she has poor taste....

(21,849 posts)I didn't hear that part. I heard that his attorney gave her the money.
The NY Times refers to a payment but nothing about failure to pay. Was the identity of the person who talked about the deal ever revealed?

(869 posts)It reads that she got worried he might renege on the deal after a payment was delayed, so she went public. She is silent again now...

The New York Times
... Jacob Weisberg, editor-in-chief of the Slate Group, said Friday that in a series of interviews with Clifford in August and October 2016, she told him she had an affair with Trump after meeting him at a 2006 celebrity golf tournament. She told him that Michael D. Cohen, a lawyer for Trump, had agreed during the presidential campaign to pay her the $130,000 if she kept the relationship secret, Weisberg said, adding that Clifford had told him she was tempted to go public because the lawyer was late in making the payment and she feared he might back out of their agreement.
... Clifford promised to send Weisberg the original paperwork. But shortly after the text exchange, Clifford stopped responding. Weisberg said he was not prepared to write the story without her consent.
ABC had been in talks with Clifford about an appearance on Good Morning America, but they came to an abrupt end, according to a person briefed on the negotiations ...
... Cohen released a statement dated Jan. 10 and signed by Clifford in which she said her involvement with Trump was limited to a few public appearances, and allegations "I had a sexual and/or romantic affair with Mr. Trump many, many, many years ago" were "completely false" ...

(11,145 posts)I think there's a record of money going from Cohn to the porn star. WSJ thinks there's a there there.
EL34x4
(2,003 posts)As far as I can find, there's no actual record of money being transferred.
There's second-hand "sources familiar with the story" style of tabloid-reporting that ought to be beneath the Wall Street Journal.
Wanting this to be true doesn't make it true.
