The Porn Star Story Could be a Crime, if...

...campaign money was used. What we know:

(1). The payoff occurred in October of 2016, just weeks before the General Election.

(2). The alleged encounter happened in 2006, while Donald was in his first year of marriage to Melania.

(3). Donald Trump hates using his own money for anything, if he can find an alternative way to pay (i.e. Trump foundation paying off golf course fines).

So, Trump obviously didn't want to go into the last few weeks of the campaign with this story and possibly have his wife walk out on him on top of that.

It is very conceivable, to me, that a scenario like this could have developed. Trump's attorney, Cohen, contacts Stephanie Clifford's (AKA Stormy Daniels) attorney about a settlement with a non-disclosure agreement (NCA). They negotiate a sum, reportedly $130,000 for Ms. Clifford. The Trump campaign transfers a sum (most likely a little greater that $130K, since the attorneys need to get paid) to Cohen's legal firm's account for "services" to the Trump campaign. Cohen transfer's the $130K plus to Ms. Clifford's attorney's legal firm's account from Cohen's legal firm's account. Ms. Clifford's (AKA Stormy Daniels) attorney then cuts a check for $130,000 to Ms. Clifford from his firm's account.

Trump and Cohen's actions violate federal campaign finance laws if this scenario is accurate.

though I imagine it would be hard to prove. These assholes are good at hiding money and sliding it around under the radar.

Isn't it illegal to pay a sex worker to shut her mouth?

He will not open his own wallet if there's another option. I bet the odds are he used campaign money.

9. The campaign was absolutely a money making scheme.

But it's very trivial to change where the money is coming from and how it is expended.
