(We calculate our weekly approval ratings using an average of the four pollsters who conduct daily or weekly approval rating polls: Gallup, Rasmussen, Reuters/Ipsos and You Gov/Economist. This provides consistent and accurate trending information and does not muddy the waters by including infrequent pollsters.)

You also give those pollsters inordinate weight and exclude fine pollsters like Quinnipiac, WSJ-NBC, and Marist.

The polling average for Trump at 538 is 39.1:

and 39.2 at Real Clear Politics:

The remarks, while shocking to normal people, really play to his base in three key ways:

- Since there is no audio - only a firsthand account from a political opponent (Durbin) - this plays to the "he didn't really say that; it's the lying liberal media" narrative that the FAUX Noise crown has bought into.

- The term "S***hole Country" plays well to the crown that wants "someone who speaks the truth" and doesn't "use the language of a politician."

- White Trump-supporting conservatives don't want any more non-white immigrants. Period.
