He has the same enmity towards the press, gets some of the same criticism, and has a similar cult following. There are more similarities than differences, in my opinion.

Young audience members, born decades after the Pentagon Papers, were applauding during the movie. Older people as well, but I was heartened to see young people get it.
The movie sparked a lively conversation between a nurse's aid from the Islands, who was there with her in-wheelchair patient, and the elderly patient. The aid was excited that Katherine Graham "stood up for herself at last" and the elderly woman was nostalgic for when "newspapers mattered." I just felt the glow of those patriotic times.
