...would any of the Republicans present at the meeting have spoken up??
I sincerely doubt it. Although Durbin said that Lindsey Graham spoke up at the meeting, when he made those comments.
But would any of them have told the public about it? Some Republicans are saying that it would have been better for our country if no one had said anything about it. Tell 'em lies and feed 'em candy.
I'm surprised that Lindsey spoke up during the meeting. I'm actually pretty surprised that he still has lines that can be crossed.

(34,074 posts)I'm not quite jaded enough to believe that none of the Republicans present would have let the remarks pass without, at some point, likely privately, having said something to Trump or his handlers.
But those present would much rather have had the comments remain hidden as their own secret. It's not a problem if we only say it in our little closed group.

(21,717 posts)Graham said he spoke his peach at the meeting (but didn't confirm that tRump said those words), Cotton and some other repuke said they didn't recall. I think Durbin was the only Dem in that meeting. I think Lindsey and Durbin both thought it would just be a meeting between the 3 of them, and tRump dragged all the other repukes into the meeting

(5,270 posts)according to what their sources close to Trump have told them.
What makes it so bad causing Durbin to speak out was that Trump is complaining and pressuring Senators to shape immigration policy and law based on his racist impulses.
