Another tragic shooting death.

Below is yet another sad story about two more innocent victims of gun violence, a child playing with a gun shot and killed another child, her brother. As I post this, this story is less than 48 hrs old. From what I can tell it has yet to make a splash here.

Before clicking the link may I say something to you? The tragic events of Aurora has sparked an 'Uncivil War' here in the DU. I suspect this war has gone on long before I got here and it could go on and on and on...

There is a lot of animosity between the two warring factions, neither has any patience right now, with but the fewest of examples of DUers trying to reach across the neutral zone.

Although the gun issue in our nation is huge, there is a much bigger war going on. That is the war to save our very democracy. Many, myself included feel that we stand a very good chance of losing this war-that if Romney wins and/or we lose even more seats in congress, our democracy will be lost-end of story.

This is the Democratic Underground. I believe we play a part in that war. When we fight against each other, on the scale that has gone on this past week, our effectiveness in fighting the bigger war to save our democracy is diminished.

Imo, if it accomplished nothing our Uncivil War was a distraction-no, worse than a destraction it drove a wedge between us when we need to be fighting together! We are all fellow DUers, here to learn, to educate to do whatever we can to further the fight to save our democracy.

We know this for a fact: Our generation has let down the next generation because they are worse off than we were when we took over. The children coming up will be worse off again if something isn't done. We KNOW what needs doing!

It is your choice fellow DUer, you can read the story of these two child victims and come back here, take aim and fire off another senseless volley at your fellow DUers, or you might consider finding a different way. Just remember, if we lose our democracy to the corporatists, you will never get those changes in the gun laws that could help prevent even more tragedies like Aurora, like this. I want to fight for this little girl-i want to fight for all of America's children. I want us together to fight for their future.

She will be an adult and people will tell her she was just a kid that didn't know better. That might help, but I doubt it. The fault is with the adults that left a gun laying around, that fact probably won't help her either. Sadly this scenario is played out far too often.

This will be affecting her for the rest of her life. From what I understand, even cops, who in the line of duty kill the bad guy, need counciling. That poor girl, and her family, my heart goes out to them.
