I notice under the "Homicide by Firearm Rate per 100,000 pop" the U.S. isn't nearly as bad as many Latin American countries.

3. True, but the U.S. violent crime rate is still falling.

Has been for over 15 years now, even taking into account these occasional mass-shooting sprees.

So things are getting better, not worse, despite what the MSM likes to sensationalize and sell.

You know, the "we must be armed at all times because the country is going to hell in a handbasket" argument.

At least the media's fixation can be easily explained by monetary interests. The gun-stuffer position seems wholly based on irationality though

and those are guns that came from America and the drugs are going to America.



It is also a misleading statistic because the rate reflects people owning multiple firearms while each homicide (as a rule) is done with only weapon.

7. actually Taurus in Brazil produces firearms in S. America.

I wonder how many firearms deaths were done with arms sold or stolen from government sources. For years South America guerrillas have raided police stations and military outposts arming themselves with guns, automatics and explosives. In some instances governments have armed the guerrillas and have lost accountability for the distribution.
