(79,302 posts)In another devastating blow to Trump and his party, Democrats have scored yet another victory in Republican territory.
Democrat Patty Schachtner edged out her Republican challenger, Adam Jarchow, in tonights Wisconsin Senate district 10 race, flipping the seat from Republican to Democratic control.
The Republican loss is all the more impressive considering Trump won the 10th district by a staggering 17 points during the 2016 presidential election. The district has been GOP-controlled for nearly two decades.
Tonights victory is only the latest in a wave of stunning Democratic success stories around the country. Thus far, Democrats have unseated Republicans in a vast number of what were thought to be unwinnable races. Aside from flipping New Jerseys and winning Virginias gubernatorial races, Democrats also win a historic victory electing Doug Jones to the Alabama Senate, the first time that a Democrat has won in that state in a quarter century.
Democrats have also picked up a slew of seats in other races around the country, including those in Georgia, Washington, and Florida.
Since the beginning of 2017, Democrats have flipped 15 seats in special elections. Republicans have only flipped three. In total, Democrats flipped 35 seats from red to blue. Even in solidly red districts, such as those in Oklahoma, South Carolina, Kansas, Alabama, and Tennessee, Democrats are overperforming Trumps numbers by double digits.
As the Trump administration and its Republican enablers in Congress continue their assault on the will of the American people from healthcare to tax cuts for the rich to net neutrality to immigration voters across the country are delivering a serious message to the White House, one race at a time.
If tonights Wisconsin results are duplicated around the country in 2018, the entire Republican Party will be on life support.

(4,450 posts)if the Repubs can lose this Senate seat then Walker could actually be vulnerable, the comically inept Democratic Party of Wisconsin notwithstanding.

(4,450 posts)And, who knows, maybe they can oust Duffy. Should be no trouble hanging Drumpf around his neck. That part of the state is lagging economically and Duffy all but fellates Drumpf whenever he's asked.

(4,450 posts)That district isn't the reddest in the state by any stretch, but it's been a safe Republican seat for a loooong time.

(82,849 posts)I wonder if anyone in the national media will notice this result? The Democrats are piling up a pretty impressive record since Shithole McOrangehead took office. He likes to brag about how well the Republicans are doing, but the facts don't back him up.

(6,377 posts)They're making it sound like this was a pretty big upset that she pulled, and it really bodes well for a 2018 blue wave, because this has been a pretty safe seat for Republicans lately.
