The guy took no life jacket into cold raging waters after drinking and friends telling him he was crazy for even thinking about it.

The plug was at the top of the boat and they couldn’t get it to take on much water in a simulation. And they also said the interrogation video pretty much shows a forced confession.

Anyway, the story was more complicated than ‘she unplugged a hole in her fiancé’s kayak so that he would drown’.

A drain plug ON TOP of the kayak designed to drain water when flipped over on land was shown to admit only a tiny bit of water. Versus the seat opening in a kayak, that was too small for the occupant and not suited for the conditions on that river, which caused him to be swamped.
