Woman who unplugged fiances kayak so he would drown is already out of prison

The 37-year-old Latvian-born woman who infamously unplugged a hole in here fiancé’s kayak in April 2015 so that he would drown because she “wanted to be free” and was tired of “sex demands” only served time for criminally negligent homicide.

She was only sentenced to 1 1/3 to 4 years and served less than 3.

The guy took no life jacket into cold raging waters after drinking and friends telling him he was crazy for even thinking about it.

The plug was at the top of the boat and they couldn’t get it to take on much water in a simulation. And they also said the interrogation video pretty much shows a forced confession.

Anyway, the story was more complicated than ‘she unplugged a hole in her fiancé’s kayak so that he would drown’.

A drain plug ON TOP of the kayak designed to drain water when flipped over on land was shown to admit only a tiny bit of water. Versus the seat opening in a kayak, that was too small for the occupant and not suited for the conditions on that river, which caused him to be swamped.
