Republicans had no problem getting the votes to pass their taxcuts...

They didn't need the Democrats and they didn't want the Democrats. Democrats could have shut the government down at that time if they had the numbers. But they didn't have the numbers then and they don't have the numbers now.

Republicans are looking for someone to blame because they cannot bring together their huge majority to pass a budget. So blame it on the Democrats. Call the DACA bill a taxcut and I'm sure it will pass.

I've always found it amusing that more people remember voting for a popular president that actually cast votes, survey after survey.

And that when a president stops being popular, suddenly people who said they voted for him distinctly remember voting against him.

Eye witnesses are like democracy: the worst option except for all the others.

They need 60 votes for the budget or the Continuing Resolution to avoid shutdown.

What happens when we have BOTH political parties celebrating a shutdown and blaming the other?

You know who gets seriously screwed then?

But it is the "Freedom Caucus" in the House that is keeping the Repubs from a majority vote. And that is why they need Democrats. So it is not the fault of the Republican Freedom Caucus, it is the fault of the Democrats?? What type of faulty logic is that?

They need a handful of Democrats in the House if the handful of Freedom Caucus R's bail out.

Guess what?

If you want bipartisan legislation, you have to have both parties.

As the minority party, I'd take bipartisan legislation. That's a win!

Shutdown? You want to see who gets the blame? You want to see who gets hurt?

"Government shutdown for illegal immigrants." Which party will the media hang that on? They are already doing it!

But now that they need the Democrats, they want "bi-partisanship".

The danger is that a short-term win could end up being a long-term loss. Where should Democrats stand on DACA?

The DHS is signing people up now.

Due to a federal court order, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has resumed accepting requests to renew a grant of deferred action under DACA. Until further notice, and unless otherwise provided in this guidance, the DACA policy will be operated on the terms in place before it was rescinded on Sept. 5, 2017.

DACA doesn't end until March (if then), so we have time to work a deal.

R's shutdown government. Democrats make government work - for us!

There we have another difference between the two parties!
