He did not get to have a slice of the most beautiful chocolate cake last night.
He missed out on the trained seal clapping of scores of people who paid $50,000 a plate to kiss his ass.
He didn't get to bask in the warm glow of making it through a year of his presidency.
I HOPE YOU'RE ALL HAPPY.
I know I am!

(18,837 posts)(CNN)With the government shut down, President Donald Trump isn't going to Mar-a-Lago as he planned for his high-dollar fundraiser Saturday night.
But the party for supporters to celebrate the one-year anniversary of his inauguration will still go on, according to a person involved with the fundraiser.
Given the impasse on government spending, planners of the event have been told it's unlikely Trump will make it to West Palm Beach to attend it himself. But the soiree, due to be held in the ballroom at Mar-a-Lago, will still happen.
Donors paid $100,000 a couple for tickets or $250,000 a couple to participate in a roundtable with Trump. The proceeds go to the Trump Victory Fund, the joint fundraising effort between Trump's campaign and the Republican Party.
Trump was scheduled to fly to his Florida estate on Friday and remain there for the weekend, but the White House scrapped the President's plans as a government shutdown seemed more likely. Now that Congress failed to pass a spending bill to fund the government before the Friday midnight deadline, Trump is bunkering down in Washington until a deal is made.

(100 posts)Lovely cake, looks delish. But, I would prefer a coffee or vanilla bean ice cream. It appears to already be too rich. Choc ice cream would be too much. How could they even ruin this lovely dessert.

(15,328 posts)Maybe he needs an enforced weight-reduction session at a fine resort. A federal penitentiary? He might be able to get a lot of cheap sex there, too. (No worries about paying off the performers.)

(61,700 posts)The smear of raspberry coulis, the over the top scoop of chocolate ice cream, which as you note will clash with the chocolate cake. The whole thing looks boring and overdone. And the ridiculous gold name tag stuck in it.
Typical of Trump. Bland, old fashioned, dull.

(16,254 posts)And it looks like there are cake crumbs under the scoop of ice cream to keep it in place.
We have a local restaurant that puts out a 5-layer slice of chocolate cake with FUDGE frosting, pecans and three scoops of vanilla ice cream with caramel/chocolate drizzled over the top of the scoops and whipped cream to finish the presentation. Talk about decadent. It works best to eat the ice cream/whipped cream with a couple bites of the chocolate cake and take the cake home to snack on for the next 3 days. It puts his cake to shame and it's $7.50. I wonder what his costs.

(16,786 posts)At a cafe at Westminster Abbey in 2015. Decedent chocolate over creamy caramel over a thick buttery thick shortbread cookie, covered with chocolate shavings and chopped pecans. All for £2.75 at the time with a pot of tea. I was in high cotton for that moment.
Trump can pay for his own damned party.

(11,564 posts)...went into culinary arts, and thought he'd reached a really high plateau when he went to work for Drumpf as a pastry chef.
Hard to believe, but it was not what he thought it was going to be....or hoped it would be, so he quit.

(16,178 posts)I'd rather have a desert from the local Mazzaro's Italian Grocery than that.
To me it looks like two streaks of ketsup and a few dallops of mustard next to a bad imitation of chocolate layer cake.
Sorry, I'm not a high brow kinda guy.
