300K in Chicago, 500K in Los Angeles, 200K in NYC. One million in just 3 of the cities! This is HUGE

200K was the police estimate in New York City. 37K was the police estimate in San Diego.

What other numbers are you seeing?

LOS ANGELES, CA -- Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets of downtown Los Angeles and across the nation Saturday, as the second Women's March looked to convert anger at President Donald Trump's policies into victories in this year's elections.

The coordinated rallies in L.A., Washington, D.C., Chicago, New York, Santa Ana, Palm Springs and other cities also aimed to repeat the success of last year's demonstrations, where an estimated 3 to 4 million took to the streets to protest Trump's inauguration.

Organizers of the L.A. event predicted at least 200,000 this year, but Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti told the crowd gathered at City Hall that the official estimate was 500,000 people, which he said would make it the largest march in the country. Last year's L.A. march was also the largest.

San Diego police estimated 37,000 people participated in the event — about the same size as last year’s 40,000.

It is one of several marches being held across the nation this weekend, with most happening Saturday. The national march will be on Sunday, this time in Las Vegas rather than Washington, D.C.

Some 200,000 women's rights supporters marched through Manhattan on Saturday, wearing pink hats and carrying signs of resistance, as leaders urged them on with a rallying call: "This is our time."

The large showing came amid the #MeToo movement and on the one-year anniversary of the inauguration of President Donald Trump. Marchers packed streets from Upper West Side to midtown on a sunny and pleasant day. Organizers said among goals of this year's march were getting more Democrats to run for public office and bolstering voter registration.

Last year LA ended up having 750, 000 but it was reported at about half that for a while.

4. Seems like we should be able to leverage social media to show the complete picture.

Aggregating data via social check-ins at locations both large and small would give tremendous insight to understand the true scope of the protest.

5. Last year the March organizers collected this information, so I assume they'll do it this year, too.

i dare say most have cellphones and use them for pics. Having a app to sign in on would give organizers a powerful tool to understand the big picture and small picture as well.

The March* was 14 blocks long and people were still marching after I made the loop of the
state capital. A local TV station said it was only several hundred people but it was much
bigger than that.

* We were on the sidewalk and in honor of Trump I wore a shark outfit.

Daniels describes an evening when she joined Trump in his hotel room in Beverly Hills.

“The strangest thing about that night — this was the best thing ever. You could see the television from the little dining room table and he was watching Shark Week and he was watching a special about the U.S.S. something and it sank and it was like the worst shark attack in history. He is obsessed with sharks. Terrified of sharks. He was like, ‘I donate to all these charities and I would never donate to any charity that helps sharks. I hope all the sharks die.’ He was like riveted. He was like obsessed. It’s so strange, I know.”
