here who will call me naïve---and worse---but, that's OK.
I used to KNOW what Democrats stood for and felt I could give anyone who earned to "D" after his or her name the benefit of the doubt.
Democrats were for the common man. Specifically, they were for labor; they were for any person or group who could be described as "the underdog". It took them a while, but eventually they stood up for women, racial minorities, the LGBTQ community, immigrants, children, the elderly, the mentally and physically impaired. Sure, there were exceptions. We had our jerks, incompetents and outright assholes. But, generally speaking, if you told us both sides of any issue, we could see which our party---the good guys---would take.
And, now, as mentioned above, people who urge that we insist on that moral clarity are deemed hopelessly naïve or extremists or just stupid.
I cannot accept funding Trump's wall. I cannot accept allowing states to basically opt out of collective bargaining protections. I cannot accept our continuing to abide by customs and norms which the Trumpists have gleefully abandoned. Right now, I think our people should shut it all down, call for a national strike and join the protests on the Mall.
So, that's all I have for now. Not a good day here in Flyoverville.

"Clean" -- instead we are all dirty, unless we hold firm, step up and wash away this disgrace completely. What are the chances of that? I'm not holding my breath.
