Don Imus is calling it quits. The 77-year-old host announced, on Monday morning, that he plans to end his lengthy radio run on March 29.

The move doesnt appear to be the shock jocks choice. Imus said he was told by his syndicator, Cumulous, that he would not be paid past the end of his contract.
Imus has been with WABC Radio in New York since 2007. Earlier that year, he was fired by WFAN Radio in New York for making racist comments about the Rutgers Womens Basketball team. Except for a two year hiatus in the late 70s, Imus has had a continuous presence on New York airwaves since 1971.

(59,504 posts)I remember that he did come back after 2007, but I never heard anything about him after he came back. It's hard to believe that he has been on WABC for 10 years without making any news over his volatile behavior. I wonder how he feels that his end is just air coming out of a balloon - not an explosion.

He should be off the air right now and not later. But he did his damage.
