The most important part of the Senate vote was the message it sent to the White House.

They could not have been happy. Their entire strategy for survival is one of division. Donald Trump cannot be assured that he would survive an impeachment trial with numbers like today. That alone makes the "shutdown" a victory for America.

Didn't they get what they wanted? An end to the shutdown and no deal on DACA?

the issue has just been deferred for three weeks.

the government reopens while they negotiate.

the shutdown returns if there's no agreement at that point.

is a risky thing for him to renege on. It would promptly resume the shut down and the Thugs would not be able to claim it was the Democrats fault. Also, having given in on CHIP, the CHIP vs DACHA, Sophie's Choice has ceased to exist. Seems like reneging on the promise does not have an upside for Mitch and that's why the Democrats agreed to this.
Just MHO.

With this vote, Trump cannot be re-assured that he could fire Mueller and get away with it. It's not even spring and "bi-partisanship" has broken out like cherry blossoms, which in this case, is not a good sign for this White House.

They never expected such an over-whelming bi-partisan vote to open the government. That does not bode well for the White House in the future if the Senate continues to work in a "bi-partisan" way. They seem to finally recognize that they are an equal branch of government.

...has to shake them.

They're working right now on a plan to put a wedge between them and upset the process.

I think Trump's credibility is non-existent, even among his allies.
