Boom. After a week with some 40+ degree days, today and tonight are bringing the Twin Cities up to 10" of snow, with up to 16" or more falling on southern Minnesota. Iowa, too is getting more than its share.
What does that mean? Well, it means a really, really shitty commute this afternoon. It means a lot of shoveling and snowblowing tomorrow morning. It means the city snowplows will be out in force tonight and tomorrow. It means that, by Wednesday, we'll all be out doing our normal stuff. It snows here in Minnesota. We're used to it.
However, to the East of us, I don't have the bad news that usually comes after one of these storms hits in the flyover. You're not going to get snow from this storm. Some rain, for sure. But temps will be in the 40s, so just rain. Starting tomorrow and extending into Wednesday. Isn't that nice?
I'm very pleased to report that you aren't about to be buried again. Good news, huh?

(19,253 posts)No plows out yet, and I'm in a rural area that drifts like mad. Just waiting for the sheriff's deputy to show up and drive me the last two miles home
Good thing I have a full tank of gas and warm clothes. Might be here another hour or so.
