If someone's actually complaining about a situation rather than complaining about politics as usual, shrug and recommend they go to the office that handles complaints. Someone who knows you and your spouse personally should know better than to complain, anyway.
If someone's actually asking you to intercede, you say -
"I'm sorry, I don't have the ability to do anything about this issue you have with the organization, and it would be a potential legal conflict of interest if I tried. You need to go through proper channels to take that up with the Ombudsman or Front Office."
If someone's threatening you or your spouse over the issue, go to the police and to the organization's security office.
