The moving video tracks the efforts these incredible women make in their communities from hanging signs in local businesses to meeting with congressional leaders. Conversations in living rooms among friends and neighbors have led to significant successes over the years thanks to these badass moms. In 2017 alone they: passed a bill in Rhode Island that keeps guns out of the hands of convicted domestic abusers, passed laws in Hawaii, Washington, and Tennessee that helps law enforcement officials catch people who try to buy guns illegally, and successfully fought to keep guns out of the St. Louis Zoo. They also passed a law preventing people from carrying hidden, loaded guns in public hospitals in Kansas, forced domestic abusers in Nevada to turn in their guns to law enforcement, kept Nebraskas background check law intact, and defeated Stand Your Ground and permitless carry legislation in Minnesota.
These moms have been spending the small amount of time they have away from home and work to enact real, lasting change that betters all of our lives. These motivated parents lobbied lawmakers to keep guns out of schools in West Virginia, California, Kentucky, and North Dakota while also passing legislation to keep guns off college campuses in various states. And theyve made it harder for criminals and domestic abusers to access firearms. Following the tragedy at Sandy Hook where 40 parents lost children in a mass shooting, moms across the country said no more and founded Moms Demand Action. The grassroots movement is part of the nonprofit Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention organization in the U.S. with four million supporters.
