Of the many causes behind the January 2018 U.S. federal government shutdown, bribes to senators from George Soros was not among them.

Hungarian-American billionaire George Soros bribed three Democratic senators to vote for a shutdown of the U.S. federal government.

On 19 January 2018, the Ladies of Liberty web site published an article reporting that Hungarian-American billionaire George Soros had bribed three Democratic senators to vote against a budget deal that would prevent a shutdown of the U.S. federal government:

Democrat Senators Fred Marken, Louis Kearns and Gerald Harmon are all under investigation for taking bribes from a PAC fund tied to none other than George Soros. The PAC, DemWatch2020, is run by notorious liberal troublemaker Sandy Batt who has declined to comment.

Soros, who enjoys Hungarian citizenship, says he doesn’t care who knows that he buys Congressmen: “When Charles Koch does it, he’s a patriot. When I do it, I’m a criminal.”

The three senators could be guilty of taking dark money if it’s determined that Soros’ cash came from overseas. At any rate, the timing is criminal in and of itself. No elected official is supposed to take campaign contributions of any kind based on a single vote. It’s under those pretenses that the House Ethics Committee will investigate.

None of this was true. The senators named in the article do not exist, and this report originated solely with the Ladies of Liberty web site, a site that is a part of a network of fake news sites dedicated to spreading political misinformation under the guise of proffering “satire.”

He's apparently the only boogeyman the RW can come up with, so they use him for EVERYTHING. He's apparently sitting atop an infinite, inexhaustible pile of money that he will throw at anything and everything he can think of. It's easier to think this than to grapple with the idea that people ACTUALLY don't like RW policies. That's why protestors are never protesting RWers and their policies; they're obviously being paid by George Soros. The Women's March? Each and every one of them, paid by George Soros. Any lawmaker who doesn't vote along with the Republican agenda? Paid by George Soros. Media people who don't carry around the Republicans' balls in a silver spoon? Paid by George Soros. And when polls and actual election results show people rejecting RW candidates and policies? It's because George Soros paid people to compromise the votes/polls and paid people to vote against the Republicans.

You see how mentally challenged these people are?

The 1990's is calling and they would like their stupid conspiracy theory back. The light blue polyester suits belong to the 1970's and the 1990's still want nothing to do with them. They just want the Sores conspiracy theories back.

But really, what's this obsession with Soros all about these days?

He gave several million to MoveOn in 2004 to help defeat Bush, and then several million more a few years later. I haven't heard about any big donations since? But, he's still their go to liberal boogeyman despite RWers like the Koch Brothers, Mercer, Scaife, the Walton family, Sheldon Adelson and others donating in amounts every year that dwarf what Soros donated a couple of times.
