definitely the largest in U.S. History. I was very pleased with the turnout this year but I don't think the numbers were as high as last year (even though they were very impressive - L.A. was supposed to have had 600,000 this year and last year had 750,000).

Here are the actual totals...

There were millions at each one but this year's were a little lower but some cities actually had more. Very impressive since we were told that it was a passing fad, blah, blah, blah.

THANK YOU to women (and men who joined)!! It was awesome, and I am with you in the effort to sustain the energy of resistance.

That said, we may be stronger undercover. Hyperbolic proclamations such as "biggest ever" (despite factual grounding) are essentially analogous to "my button is bigger." Assertions impose a perspective that then provides fodder for well-practiced RW detractors and sustenance for their audience.

We must avoid the distractions that such assertions invite. Instead, present facts; stop short of conclusions; and let the inescapable conclusions speak for themselves. Those who miss such conclusion are lost (LOL--Trump's "base&quot

If you want to invite ridicule, proclaim "biggest ever."

I was too young and to....ummm....middle class Canadian? for the two analogous movements of civil rights and Vietnam to grab me the way this one has. Of course I had great affinity for them, but the underlying issues didn't really affect me directly.

Where I live, the Asian population is considerable, but the African-Canadian population is small enough that one can literally go weeks, and sometimes even months without seeing a face with African origins. Canada famously opened its arms to war protestors and draft dodgers, so that wasn't immediate in my life.

Everyone knows women, though. Most of us are even related to some. How can you be unaffected if there are females of any age that you care about?
