Explosive video: After a man threatened to kill CNN employees-Don Lemon spoke directly to Trump

.@DonLemon: There's "nothing random" about the arrest of a Michigan man who threatened to kill CNN employees. "This is what happens when the President of the United States repeatedly attacks members of the press simply for reporting facts he does not like"

There are a lot of trolls and bots out there that just tweet shit all day long. That's all they do, either because they're paid to do it or because they're cray-cray. Journalists display their names on their videos and printed articles, and many of them have their own blogs now or their publication has a blog.

Until Twitter makes it difficult or impossible for trolls to get anonymous accounts (don't hold your breath) this is going to continue. I guess the journalists have to let it roll off their backs, or else leave the industry.

Somebody listens or reads. There is someone who hears or reads the threat and will act on it. It doesn't matter if a real person wrote it or if a bot said it. Somebody will hear, and move to make it real. Voicing a threat makes it real and is the first step to a horrible conclusion, because of course, whoever moves to harm journalists (or any other group) takes the first step and doesn't have the brakes to stop there. And I bet you money that whoever voices the threats know gd good and well that someone will internalize it and try to make it real.

TREVOR BACH, MARK BERMAN AND KYLE SWENSON
The Washington Post

NOVI, Mich. - The man who federal authorities say threatened to kill CNN employees had declared in high school that he identified with Adolf Hitler and suggested "the Holocaust was exaggerated," according to a former classmate.

That description of Brandon Griesemer’s behavior in high school emerged after the FBI accused him of placing menacing phone calls to CNN, describing the news organization as "fake news" and vowing to carry out a massacre at its Atlanta offices. The FBI also said in court documents that Griesemer made "disparaging remarks regarding Jewish individuals" during one call and, months before threatening CNN, called a Michigan mosque and "made derogatory comments relating to the mosque and Muslims" ...

Anthony Luongo, who was a classmate of Griesemer’s in high school until both graduated last year, described him as a Trump supporter who "came in after the election and was very happy" and compared Griesemer's reaction to that of a fan whose team had won a big game ...

In the first call on Jan. 9, the affidavit said, a phone number associated with Griesemer called a publicly listed number for CNN and said: "Fake news. I’m coming to gun you all down." He then used two expletives and a racial slur before hanging up, the agent continued ...

and that is to say, "if any of this happens I am personally holding you responsible."

Trump could be tried for the same offense that Charles Manson was tried for, if any murders occurred from his constant threats to the press, Manson did not commit the actual, physical crime, but he was the mastermind of the murders. If Vincent Bugliosi ('The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder') were alive today, I am sure he would agree.

In that book, Bugliosi makes the case that Bush, Chaney, Powell, Rice, Rumsfeld, etc, can be tried under the same rule that was used against Manson.

35. Yes, CNN is caught in Trump's twitter frenzy
Wed Jan 24, 2018, 01:20 PM
Jan 2018

They need to get out of the "reaction" business. (My dad used to say, "When you react, they react and it creates a vicious cycle" )

'Don't retweet Donald Trump and don't use his language'

While Donald Trump's tweets are routinely attacked as false, this often only helps to spread his message, says cognitive linguist George Lakoff. So DW asked him how to best respond to the US president's fiery language.

Are you suggesting we should then not try and refute Trump's falsehoods if that only helps him?

No, I am not saying don't refute them. I am saying you don't refute them by repeating his language and repeating his claims. You refute them by undermining them, you refute them by understanding what you are doing and saying the opposite in positive terms not in negative terms.

Each of Trump's tweets is a strategy. He has four strategies. One, frame first, meaning get your understanding of the situation out there. Two, divert attention from things you don't want people to pay attention to, for example by attacking somebody else. Three, attack the messenger or assign blame to someone else and deflect it away from you, for example the press. Four, launch a trial balloon and say something outrageous, an extreme version of what you believe to see what the reaction is and if it isn't too bad you are in the clear.

You might report the tweet, or not, in a very short sentence and then you go back to the real news and state that what he wanted to do was not get you to think about the real news and here it is. Speak the real truth that he doesn't want people to hear before you report any tweet.

http://www.dw.com/en/dont-retweet-donald-trump-and-dont-use-his-language/a-42213110

I think CNN has a tendency to overdo Trump news. Like when the Grab Them by the Pu$$y tape came out. They played it over and over and over. Sure, it gets ratings for CNN, but it also reinforces Trump in a strange bizarre way - as in "There is no such thing as bad publicity" way.

I haven't been watching CNN lately. I wonder if they are running the Stormy Daniels story ad-nauseum?

why don't they ask him to prove it? This is the ongoing problem, he makes ridiculous claims and no one challenges him.
A stand must be taken and all reporting must stop until he can offer evidence of what is "fake". Or proof of anyone of his absurd utterances.
