Elton John is preparing to hang up his enormous glittery cape for the last time.
British newspaper The Daily Mirror reports that the 70-year-old songwriter known for hits such as Tiny Dancer, Rocket Man, and Your Song will retire from touring after one final world tour.
John will reportedly announce the decision at whats been billedin fittingly extravagant styleas a joint press conference hosted simultaneously in both London and New York on Wednesday.
The Daily Mirror claims that Johns decision to retire was made after he spent time in intensive care earlier in the year when he fell ill in South America with what his spokesperson called a harmful and unusual bacterial infection.

(68,586 posts)We play under ALTA in Atlanta and often it is subdivision teams. We played Elton John's team. We had been ranked too high in terms of our abilities which happens when you first form a team as your rank is based on your best rated player. Elton John was an amazing tennis player-almost a pro and a complete jerk. Obnoxious would be too too kind a word for his behavior. Also, he is complaining about taxes all the time as rich as he is... he sued about it a couple of times. He played Rush Limbaugh's wedding and Was slated to play Trump's inauguration ...not sure he did that one. I was so disappointed. I had always loved his music. And I am sorry I met him. It is the end of an era though.
