Stephanie Schriock wants to make EMILYs List obsolete. Or, as Schriock, the president of the political action committee, put it, Im hoping that we are on a path that were no longer needed.
Someday, EMILYs List will not be needed, Schriock told POLITICOs Anna Palmer in the latest episode of the Women Rule podcast, because there will be women running in every election out there. In Schriocks view, that day could be soon.
The organization, which supports pro-abortion rights Democratic women in their bids for public office, has seen a growth spurt in the months since the 2016 election. Its not just money pouring in though thats helped. Its the 26,000 women they say theyve signed up to run for office or to help a woman run for office.
This isnt just the candidates for 2018, this is the next decade of leadership in this country, Schriock said. For EMILYs List, that means theyve doubled the size of their state and local team and tripled the size of their digital operations.
