A year after President Trump entered the White House, the effect of his presidency on his company is still largely undetermined.
His downtown Washington hotel seems to be doing well. In Toronto and New Yorks SoHo neighborhood, meanwhile, Trumps brand became so polarizing that it was dropped. Now, new data suggests that rates at some Trump hotels have not fared well during the Trump administration.
British travel data firm FairFX checked room rates at every Trump hotel or resort property for a two-day period the week of Trumps inauguration in 2017, then did the same for a comparable two-day period a year later.
It found that rates for the most expensive rooms were down at nine Trump properties compared with a year ago. For the least expensive rooms, rates were down at seven of the nine properties, with prices at two golf resorts in Doonbeg, Ireland, and Turnberry, Scotland holding steady.
