Dem poll: Cruz leads Dem challenger by single digits

en. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) leads Rep. Beto O’Rourke (Texas), his likely Democratic opponent in November, by single digits, according to a new poll conducted by a left-leaning firm.

End Citizens United, a campaign finance reform group, released a poll conducted by Public Policy Polling (PPP), that finds Cruz leading O’Rourke by 8 points, 45 to 37 percent. Eighteen percent of voters remain undecided.

Wednesday’s poll comes into contrast with an internal poll from Cruz’s campaign earlier this month that shows the GOP senator surging ahead of O’Rourke by 18 points. The survey also found that O’Rourke struggles with name recognition compared to Cruz.

In the PPP poll, both Cruz and President Trump have negative favorability ratings in Texas. Thirty-eight percent view Cruz favorably, while 49 percent view him unfavorably. For Trump, who won Texas by 9 points in the 2016 election, 45 percent view him favorably, compared to 48 percent who view him unfavorably.

PPP is pollster that is used predominately by Democrats but it is neither Democratic or left leaning. This particular poll had nothing to do with the Democrats.

Nate Silver rates the poll as a B+ poll with a very slight (+.2) lean to Republicans

It calls races correctly 82% of the time. Democrats prefer it not because it is "Democratic" but because of its record.

BETO signs up in my immediate neighborhood. At least 6; which is a LOT for FTW!
This is a pretty nice neighborhood just down the street from TCU.
Thinking Cruz has pissed off a lot of people and Beto is such a nice guy -
he may beat him if he can get the $$ scratch to do it.

I have my yard sign up!

We recently did a canvassing for Beto and there is a lot of Cruz hate out there haha

Beto is super nice and once people go see him in a town hall they are instantly hooked!

I love Beto he is amazing and he has also been doing a lot of interviews on CNN and one on Morning Joe. He needs to do more Cable news interviews and get his face and name out there.

Also, if anyone wants to volunteer there is a lot of remote volunteer opportunities to help out the campaign.
