Should it be OK to put a loaded pistol into a crib with a sleeping two year old?

I don't think even the most rabid gun nuts would say that would be OK. So we probably can agree on some gun control. In my opinion hundred round clips fall into the same catagory as putting a loaded gun into a crib with a two year old...We should be able to get a majority to express some common sense on gun safety measures without people screaming that we are taking away their guns..

... I doubt the two-year-old could exert enough trigger pull to set the thing off...

And I don't think I've ever seen a 2-year old with the hand strength needed to just grasp the slide, let alone pull it full back and release.

There have been times I've taken comfort from that.

There are numerous politicians and groups that want strict gun control or outright bans. They won't get that in one step, so they try to do it incrementally. Say there was a 1,000 round limit on possession of ammo. How long would it be until the gun control crowd would be screaming to reduce it to 50 rounds?

The RKBA defenders aren't stupid. They are well aware of incrementalism which is why few gun control measures are supported by gun owners. Knowing that the gun control crowd won't be satisfied until guns are completely banned, why concede anything?

And people get the notion that the end goal is removing all guns because there are plenty calling for exactly that.
