coincidentally--in a promo for the show... It was not related to anything current with the actor nor that he'd died.

Strange coincidence, though, because he was on my mind as a result.

He was nothing like that character in real life. He was actually a very shy person who was into some really cool music.

He and Carroll O'Connor were so funny arguing with each other on "All in the Family."

RIP Mr. Hemsley.

and if accurate, it seems he was quite a prog rock fan - dancing to Gentle Giant tunes and collaborating with Jon Anderson from 'Yes' on an album which was not released. Neat! I never knew that about him.

(Yes, I know it's Wikipedia, so it could all be BS. But I sure would like to believe that SH had great taste in music)

With his beloved Weezy.

Thanks for all the great laughs, Mr. Hemsley. We loved "The Jeffersons." Never missed it! And he was great in everything else he did, too. But his George Jefferson character just really struck a chord with people.

Damn. We're losing a LOT of wonderful artists these days.
