Unbelievable: I think Claire McCaskill's opponent just handed her this year's "legitimate rape" line

"I want to come home to a home cooked dinner every night at six"

https://www.rawstory.com/2018/01/gop-senate-candidate-flips-womens-rights-want-come-home-cooked-dinner-every-night/

Either:

1.) Missouri men don't know how to cook
or
2.) Missouri women don't know how to do anything else
or
3.)
This guy just handed Claire McCaskill another term in the Senate that she wasn't expecting to win

Jan 2018

I mean, it's not the general sentiment--it's the substance. After all, I expected my daughters to grow up like my wife: independent, strong-willed, intelligent, and conscientious (and they did). They can all cook. So can I. Still, even after 44 years together, if I started demanding that my wife have dinner ready for me every night when I come home (which is anywhere from 4 PM to 1 AM, depending on where I had to be that day), I'd quickly be looking for another place to live--and rightly so.

He apparently expects his wife and daughters to be Stepford androids. I prefer live women. Something's wrong with either him or me.

But apparently this guy is being taken seriously enough to merit the article. If McCaskill is smart, she'll run against him using his words right up until the Republican primary. If they're smart, so will any Republican challengers for the Senate nomination in the primary, but first off, who said they're smart? And second, his contenders for the Republican primary might all feel the same as he does.

According to Sykes, feminists push an agenda that they “made up to suit their own nasty snake-filled heads.”

snip//

The candidate said that he hoped his daughters do not grow up to be “career obsessed banshees who forgo home life and children and the happiness of family to become nail-biting manophobic hell-bent feminist she devils who shriek from the top of a thousand tall buildings they are [SIC] think they could have leaped in a single bound — had men not been ‘suppressing them.’ It’s just nuts.”

McCaskill told me to my face in so many words that the one comment was the only reason she was looking at another term in the Senate. She had no illusions about what turned the tide. This time, she knows for a fact how effective a weapon it is to toss such a comment from a right wing opponent right back in his face. You can believe her campaign staff is on this.

But extremists like this idiot, just like the guy that won the last Republican primary, Todd "Legitimate Rape" Akin, tend to do well in Missouri Republican Senatorial primaries. Of course, it is likely that some of his fellow Republican contenders might get the hint of what happened to Akin six years ago, and try to use this guy's comments against him in the primary. However, extremists winning Republican primaries does seem to be the norm rather than the exception these days. Don't forget that Roy Moore trounced Luther Strange in the Alabama Senatorial primary, and Missouri isn't much more of a hotbed of enlightened liberalism than Alabama is. This clown is just nuts enough to win the Republican primary.

Every morning when I walk the dogs. Plenty of room for leads, camera, tissues, keys and most importantly - my whistle.

It's a super loud, authentic FIFA referees whistle. I blow it when the dogs bugger off into the sand dunes chasing foxes and wallabies. I don't expect them to come back when I whistle; it's purely to let them know where I am when they decide to return.

Courtland Sykes just whisled up every resentful, inadequate male in the US.

I like bashing the GOP brand as much as anyone, but this guy has next to zero chance of beating former Mo. AG Josh Hawley in the primary.

That race will take a miracle to win and wasting our time dancing around this fool means less time working FOR McCaskill and she is in desperate need of help. We can't win in Missouri without huge turnout in St. Louis and Columbia and her name is close to "Mudd" in the black community after she stood up for Ferguson prosecutor McCulloch's grand jury whitewash in the Michael Brown murder.

You'd think that some of these Republicans are consulting Stewart and Colbert to find out what would make them seem completely ridiculous, and then they follow the advice they're given to the letter. The dread grows when one realizes they come up with these routines on their own, and are perfectly serious to boot.
