Rachel Maddow Ridicules Trump For Trying To Fire Mueller Over A Golf Dispute

Rachel Maddow tore apart Donald Trump’s reported reasons for trying to fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller, including one that involved a dispute he had with Mueller years ago at his Virginia golf course.

According to the explosive New York Times report published on Thursday, this is one of the reasons the president had for trying to remove Mueller: “[H]e claimed that a dispute years ago over fees at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Va., had prompted Mr. Mueller, the F.B.I. director at the time, to resign his membership.”

Maddow had a hard time holding back laughter as she explained:

The MSNBC host said:

Amid the first wave of news media reports that Mueller was examining a possible obstruction case, the president began to argue that Mueller had three conflicts of interest that disqualified him from overseeing the investigation. One, he claimed that a dispute years ago over fees at the Trump National Golf Club in Virginia had prompted Mr. Mueller, FBI director at the time, to resign his membership. See, the whole plot to destroy the Trump presidency is about a disgruntled former golfer who didn’t like his greens fees and he held onto the grudge for years. That was claim one.

In other words, if the New York Times report is true, Trump actually believes that Robert Mueller is out to get him over a years-old dispute over a membership at one of his golf courses...........................
