(16,887 posts)But when the judge was preparing to announce her sentence, she actually gave him the opportunity to withdraw his plea and insistence on details like those about treatments. He didn't and wouldn't. You could tell it made the judge physically sick and disgusted. She even described how she comes from a family of doctors and she took particular offense to his use of air quotes around the word "treatments" in his letter and defending his "treatments" (as a reference - they included vaginal exams)
She reminded him that he is NOT a Doctor and she just signed his death warrant....

(16,887 posts)....the audible gasp after she had read this out loud and I had already shouted it out loud....
I think that it was simply so shocking that it literally took everyone there, already emotionally drained and shocked, to process that for 15-20 seconds more than me....
Yeah....he wrote that....its as if Larry Nassar, just like the Harvey Weinstein's or Roy Moore's or Matt Lauer's etc. etc. spoke their thoughts out in that statement....that its somehow the women....

(5,810 posts)The judge gave us a good look at the character and mind of this monster. If anyone was inclined to feel pity for him, they could easily let go of that notion after hearing portions of that letter. If you look up the definition of self-serving you will see a picture of this monster writing his letter.
He got exactly what he deserved and this judge won the day, hands down. She deserves all the accolades she is receiving for how she handled this case and yet she refuses to bask in the glow of the kudos. Rightly so, she reminds us all this was not about her, but the courageous women who stepped up to testify.

(57,106 posts)will be served by law - a very long sentence that will end with his death in a jail cell never having the opportunity to breathe free air or commit further outrages on anybody else ever again is the best justice available.
Now, what about those who contributed to this outrage being allowed to continue for foe so freaking long. We have jail cells available for them, too and we need to get them into those cells quickly.
