Senior advisor to Hillarys 2008 campaign was accused of sexual harassment and was not fired. Her lawyers say the issue was dealt with (no details) but he wasnt fired. He was fired later for workplace issues.
Of course I dont condone sexual harassment but who on earth is throwing Hillary out there one more time to give 45 and his ilk something to nudge-nudge wink-wink about. Mitchell even rehashed criticism of her over Bill and Monica.
I cant help but feel like this is a See? Hes not so bad for that orange asshole. Why?

If Sec Clinton or her surrogates had mentioned Melania Trump's soft porn movie career or DJT's numerous affairs and intimated about his scuzzy history of money laundering for the Mafia and the Russians, some of these Trump nuts may have sat out the 2016 election...

(59,504 posts)People voted for him in spite of all that. The poll showing that 70 percent of evangelicals were willing to give his multiple passes because he supported their agenda needs to be considered. It might explain how his base was not only not going to vote for him, but was probably energized to do so "to take back America".
It might well have been that the supposedly originally planned positive close to the campaign speaking of what we will do and defining Clinton positively might have energized more of our base than the attacks on Trump. In retrospect, it might have been that countering the negative images of Clinton by familiar positive images of this serious, competent woman might have helped get out some of those disheartened by the campaign who had negate views of both.

(58,785 posts)consistently to defeat Hillary. It's also personal, not just political.
She and Sally Quinn belong to the same A-list circle all ambitious people in DC are eager to have entree to, including journalists. Long before Hillary arrived in DC as the new first lady, they were chortling over and spreading vicious stories about her, as vulgar and unprincipled as any lowlifes doing the same when the stories arrived as emails in the rest of the nation. But when first lady Hillary, knowing this, turned down an invitation to dinner at Quinn's, their hostility became a vendetta that continues to this day.
You know, there's no honorable or even respectable-appearing ground to back up to for people who've behaved this way for decades, even if they were capable of wanting to.
You may have noticed at the Democratic convention that Andrea behaved as if she was ill and might collapse. She's done a lot of silly acting out a bunch of times over the years, like when Hillary was elected to the Senate, but this time she was so weak and bent that I wondered if she could be genuinely ill and need to be in the hospital. Nope, just the usual malice masquerading as despair.

Sigh. I'm so fed up with this nonsense, even by left-leaning networks. Trump and GOP are getting away with treason, and MSNBC of all places is whining about an 8 year old story on a Clinton staffer.
I'm just so exhausted from it all.

(6,044 posts)according to a NYT article.
The man was punished, including pay forfeiture, but not fired.
that was in campaign 2008 and according to attorney, due process was followed.
In campaign 2016 the man was hired by a related organization, and was apparently fired for a separate offense.
I found the NYT article to be a bit snarky; not straightforward and seemed to have an agenda-other than news reporting .
If there is a written procedure for harassment, the company must follow it. It seems to me an ethical reporter would start there and ascertain whether the company followed the procedure.
The article though stated the campaign manager in 2008 wanted the man fired and Clinton did not fire him.
Over the years I have had less and less confidence in the NY Times-who can forget Judy Miller and her false war reporting. Yet it is not just the big stories - it is the smaller stories like this.
