Obama aide: We would have been impeached for spending $24M to upgrade Air Force One fridge

A senior adviser to former President Obama on Friday mocked reports that replacing the Air Force One refrigerators will cost $24 million, saying Obama "would have been impeached" over it.

“We would have been impeached,” Eric Schultz, a former White House deputy press secretary, said.

Defense One reported this week that two aging refrigerators on the aircraft will be replaced at a cost of almost $24 million.

The coolers on the aircraft need to have the capacity to store 3,000 meals onboard, and two out of the five are in need of replacement, according to the publication. The refrigerators have been in use on the plane since 1990.

Boeing was awarded a $23.7 million contract to replace the refrigerators, according to Defense One.

storage for 1,200 meals. At $24,000,000 that shakes out to $20,000 per meal. I have a large fridge. It could hold 100 meals if stacked properly. Buy 12 and save about $23,850,000.

I'd like to see justification on that. Twenty four million is more than 5% the cost of a whole new aircraft. You can buy two new engines for $24M. $24M for two new fridges is a crime.

Are they solid gold and encrusted in precious gems? How on earth can 2 refrigerators possibly cost that much? President Fat Fuk needs his refrigerators on Air Force One, but cuts Meals On Wheels for elderly poor people because "we can't afford it". God I hate these motherfuckers!

I can understand keeping a good supply of fresh food but I think they should keep a smaller quantity of refrigerated product and store MRE's They are good enough for our troops under fire...They should be good enough for POTUS and staff. This makes no sense!
